San Diego Haunted History & Delicious Sweet Treats Tour
Taste the Sweet Side of Old Town’s Haunted History
Your adventure through Old Town San Diego begins with something sweet, but it won’t be long before the neighborhood’s darker side starts to reveal itself. As we explore the streets of one of San Diego’s most historic areas, you’ll sample churros and other delicious sweet treats while discovering stories of early California, colorful characters, mysterious events, and legends that have survived for generations.
Our route winds through the heart of Old Town, where historic adobe buildings and preserved landmarks offer a glimpse into San Diego’s earliest days. Between tastings, your guide will share stories about the people who lived, worked, celebrated, and sometimes met unfortunate ends along these very streets.
We’ll make our way to historic El Campo Santo, a cemetery dating to the 1800s and one of Old Town’s most fascinating landmarks. As the city developed, portions of the original cemetery were covered by streets and sidewalks, adding another eerie layer to the neighborhood’s haunted reputation.
Of course, no journey into Old Town’s haunted history would be complete without the legendary Whaley House Museum. Built by Thomas Whaley in the 1850s, the house served not only as the Whaley family home, but also as a courthouse, theater, and general store. Today, it is famous for its history and enduring reputation as one of America’s most haunted houses.
As we continue through Old Town, we’ll enjoy more sweet treats while hearing tales of tragedy, crime, unexplained happenings, and spirits said to still linger among the historic buildings.
The experience concludes among the preserved streets and architecture of Old Town San Diego State Historic Park, bringing together nearly two centuries of local history.
Part food tour, part history walk, and part ghostly adventure, this experience combines churros and sweet treats with the fascinating and haunted history of Old Town San Diego. Come hungry, bring your curiosity, and prepare to discover the sweeter side of San Diego’s spooky past!
