Biscuit Beignets on Broadway: Our Nashville Donut Tour From SoBro to the Honky-Tonks

Downtown, one bakery at a time

We start at Parlor Doughnuts in SoBro, the South of Broadway neighborhood that grew up around the Music City Center. Their donuts are layered and flaky, more croissant than cake. Good fuel.

The walk heads north into downtown, and the music history comes thick and fast. You'll pass the Country Music Hall of Fame and the stars of the Walk of Fame, peek at the letterpress posters at Hatch Show Print and get a look at the AT&T tower that every local calls the Batman building. Once you see it, you'll understand why.

Rise Biscuits Donuts is where Nashville's breakfast philosophy becomes clear: why choose between sweet and savory when biscuit dough makes a perfectly good beignet? Their blueberry biscuits are on the table too. D'Andrews Bakery follows with a rich brioche donut and a pastry counter that tests your willpower. Then come the murals, the Legends mural among them, and finally Lower Broadway, where the honky-tonk neon is glowing even in broad daylight.

The tour ends at Five Daughters Bakery inside Assembly Food Hall, with mini donuts like the King Kong (maple glaze and bacon) and cookie dough.

The menu has a calendar

Southern baking follows the seasons, and so does this food tour. Late summer brings peach cobbler. Fall means apple cider and pumpkin spice. In December the cases fill with Christmas donuts. Whatever month you come, the biscuit beignets are a constant.

If you're in town for CMA Fest or a big concert, a morning walking tour is a good way to see downtown in daylight before the night gets loud.

Nashville has one tour, the Downtown Nashville Donut Tour: four bakeries, a lot of music history and the walk down Lower Broadway.
