Sweet treats and Southern charm in historic Charleston
Welcome to the Charleston Historic City Market & Sweet Treats Tour, a delicious journey through the heart of one of America’s most charming cities. Your adventure begins on Meeting Street, surrounded by colorful architecture, centuries-old buildings, and the unmistakable character of the Holy City. We’ll kick things off with a Southern favorite, warm beignets dusted with powdered sugar. It’s the perfect introduction to Charleston’s love of indulgent comfort food before setting off to explore downtown.
From there, we’ll make our way toward the famous Charleston City Market, one of the city’s most lively and historic destinations. As we explore the surrounding streets, your guide will share stories about Charleston’s past, distinctive architecture, and the people and traditions that have shaped the city.
Next, we’ll dive into a true taste of the South with classic pecan pralines. Sweet, buttery, and packed with pecans, these iconic confections have become synonymous with Southern candy shops and make for an irresistible stop along our route.
As we continue through the historic Market area, you’ll have time to take in the sights, sounds, and energy of downtown Charleston. Your guide will point out notable landmarks and share stories that bring the city’s fascinating history and culture to life.
Of course, no Charleston food adventure would be complete without biscuits. Our next stop features handmade Southern biscuits, giving you a chance to experience one of the region’s most beloved culinary traditions while learning more about Lowcountry food and culture.
From the Market, we’ll stroll toward East Bay Street and Charleston’s beautiful French Quarter. Along the way, you’ll discover picturesque streets, historic buildings, and another decadent dessert from one of downtown’s favorite sweet spots.
We’ll finish our Charleston Historic City Market & Sweet Treats Tour at the iconic Pineapple Fountain in Waterfront Park.
